OnCall Platform.

An internal shift management platform that replaces manual Excel tracking. It allows managers to assign shifts easily and employees to view and swap shifts.
My role: UX design, UI design
Timeline: 1 month

Problems.

Inefficient shift management

The company relied on an Excel sheet to manage and view team shifts.
This process was inefficient and difficult for department leaders to assign shifts, track changes, or manage shift exchanges between employees.
There was no clear way to follow up when two users swapped shifts, leading to confusion and mismanagement.

User Research

Throughout development, I used various tools and research methods to create
the best solution.

Usability testing

User interviews
To understand user pain points, we conducted interviews with department leaders and employees, gathering insights on their challenges.

Market research

performed market research to analyze industry standards and best practices for shift management platforms. Additionally, competitor analysis helped us identify key features that could improve our solution.

Solutions

We designed a platform with two distinct user experiences:

The main screen features an overview of active team members on shift, with a one-click call button for direct communication. Each user role has clear access to relevant actions, making shift management intuitive and efficient.
Manager View
A calendar-based shift management system that allows managers to assign shifts easily.
Worker View
A dashboard where employees can see their assigned shifts and request shift exchanges.

Challenges

Tight Timeline and Concessions
The project had to launch within a month, so we had to prioritize features.
We also worked with a limited component library that didn’t include essentials like a calendar, requiring creative solutions.
